TattaPani Hot Water Spring

Healing Waters in the Himalayan Foothills

TattaPani (literally 'hot water' in Hindi) is a confluence of the Sutlej River and natural sulfur springs — where people have soaked and healed for generations.

📍
Location
TattaPani village on the banks of the Sutlej — approximately 120 km from Bir (3 hr drive). Worth combining with a Shimla trip.
🌡️
The Springs
Natural sulfur springs that emerge alongside the river. Temperature varies but averages 40–50°C. The mineral content is believed to relieve joint and skin conditions.
Best Time to Visit
October to March. Avoid monsoon season when river levels rise dramatically.
💰
Cost
Basic spring access is free. Some guesthouses have private spring pools (₹200–500 per session).
🚗
Getting There
Hire a taxi from Bir for an overnight or full-day trip. Combine with Rampur, Sarahan, or the Kinnaur route.
🏨
Stay
Several basic guesthouses available in the village. Book ahead in peak winter season.
RestTrail Tip

Go in winter (December–February). Sitting in 45°C thermal water while snow-dusted peaks surround you is a very specific kind of perfect.
